During its peak, Moganshan was the stylish location to take a cool reprieve from the stifling Shanghai summer. Families of foreign businessmen and missionaries as well as Chinese politicians and high rolling gangsters all escaped to Moganshan. One of the most common methods of getting to Moganshan was via boat to Deqing country. Then, summer residents would either horseback ride or be carried up the mountain to their villas by sedan. Now, transportation is much easier and a simple high speed train takes you from Shanghai to Hangzhou, where a private car can whisk you off to Le Passage!
